This blog chronicles my life as a wife, mom, dental hygienist, photographer, and smart aleck. I make my home in Washington State. My favorite things are laughing, eating good food, taking pictures, cake decorating, blogging, and serving dental missions in third world countries. I stick my foot in my mouth so often we'll go ahead and call that a favorite hobby, too. I like to think of my blog readers as friends I invite into my home. So welcome. Come on in.

Do You Remember This?
Today is the 29th anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Who remembers this? I do, sort of. I would have just turned three, but my memory is quite stellar. I actually have a picture in my mind of the picnic table in our back being covered in ash. It was like a light dusting of snow, only it was gray.
What do you remember?

Hey Jess-
ReplyDeleteI remember it vividly. I was working along I-5 at Mrs Beasleys Burgers, the Vader exit. I watched the big ash cloud. The next week was my high school graduation, May 25, 1980. But she blew again and it was canceled! I have pictures of my car covered in ash. It was a pretty specatacular thing to witness.

I don't remember, but my mom always tells me I was outside talking about the snow. I had to go inside pretty quickly when they figured out what it really was. Pretty amazing event!
ReplyDeleteI remember the car being covered in ash, the constant TV coverage, and Dad bringing us home a bag of lava rocks when he went on the mountain afterwards with the Forest Service.
