Do You Remember This?

Today is the 29th anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. Who remembers this? I do, sort of. I would have just turned three, but my memory is quite stellar. I actually have a picture in my mind of the picnic table in our back being covered in ash. It was like a light dusting of snow, only it was gray.

What do you remember?

  1. Hey Jess-
I remember it vividly. I was working along I-5 at Mrs Beasleys Burgers, the Vader exit. I watched the big ash cloud. The next week was my high school graduation, May 25, 1980. But she blew again and it was canceled! I have pictures of my car covered in ash. It was a pretty specatacular thing to witness.

  2. I don't remember, but my mom always tells me I was outside talking about the snow. I had to go inside pretty quickly when they figured out what it really was. Pretty amazing event!

  3. I remember the car being covered in ash, the constant TV coverage, and Dad bringing us home a bag of lava rocks when he went on the mountain afterwards with the Forest Service.
